Between 1950 and 1956, the population of Palm Springs increased 60%. Developers responded producing numerous "garden apartment" projects like Sandciff, employing the new condominium form of home ownership.
Projects like Sandcliff changed Palm Springs from a wealthy and exclusive resort enclave to one that was accessible to the growing middle class.
Stripped of ornament, expensive finishes or fussy details, Sandcliff units focused on technological innovations, built-in appliances sound systems, and gadgets aimed ar'carefree living
