1. The York Theatre Marker

Inscription. The York Theatre, designed by architect Elmer Behrns, has operated at 150 N. York Street since September 1924. It has provided a variety of entertainment: silent movies with organ accompaniment; live vaudeville acts; newsreels; art films; and blockbuster movies. Originally a single auditorium with seating for 1,100 people, the theatre has been enlarged and improved over time, but retains the appeal of a small town theatre.

Erected 2004 by Elmhurst Historical Commission, City of Elmhurst.
