Inscription.
Edwin, the brother of Robert F. Broussard, was the second brother elected to serve the State of Louisiana in the U.S. Senate, serving from March 1921 March 1933. As a progressive democrat, Senator Broussard was recognized for his support of sugar tariffs, the elimination of prohibition and support of the Federal Flood Control System (The Atchafalaya Levy Association).

In his early years, he was a 1896 graduate of LSU. He served as a school principal in the Iberia Parish school system (1896 1897) and in the St. Martin Parish school system (1897 1898). In 1898, he volunteered and served in Cuba with Teddy Roosevelt and the Rough Riders during the Spanish American War. In 1901, he graduated from Tulane Law School in New Orleans. He was elected in 1903 to the position of District Attorney for the Nineteenth Judicial District and served there until 1908.

Following his last term in the Senate, he resumed his law practice in New Iberia until his death in 1934.
