Situated on what is now NY State Highway 43, Arlington House, formerly Arlington Hotel, is one of the few extant structures remaining after the Troy & New England Railway ceased operations. A major link between the city of Troy and the lakes and resorts in the town of Sand Lake, the trolley line extended for nine miles from the Albia neighborhood of Troy through Wynantskill, Snyders Corners and West Sand Lake to Averill Park. 2. Arlington Hotel Marker
colder weather. Freight trailer cars hauled coal and wool shoddy to the mills in West Sand Lake and Averill Park. Started in 1895, service ended on March 31, 1925 as the line had lost passengers to the private automobile and a competing bus service.
