Inscription.
Shortly after the building of the town hall, the federal government saw fit to build a customs and post office complex next door. Welland was considered a port of entry, thus, the need for a customs office. The building was completed sometime around 1901-1902.

The building is a multi-level structure serving postal and customs business on the first two floors and an apartment on the top floor for the custodian. It served in this capacity until the mid 1950's when a new facility was built on Division St. Later, it served as an unemployment office but has been left vacant in recent years.
