The first church organized in 1894 by Reverend J. W. G. Watkins was the First Methodist Church. The church's congregation continues as an active participant in the religious life of historic College Park today as College Park First United Methodist Church, a historic building. Descendants of Reverend
Watkins occupy his home on East Rugby Avenue.
