Regarding Oswald Regency Cottage circa 1835. The first owner of this house was American-born James Oswald, a prominent local business man. (While old building experts first thought this was built in 1835, they now think it dates from 1847.) Oswald operated a brewery and also the nearby Whirlpool Inn here in Stamford; and directed the Zimmerman Bank in Clifton. James Oswald was accused and tried in the murder
