(English translation:)
In this area, the first factories in Yeruham were established: an ice factory and the bakery that supplied bread to Be’er Sheva and the surrounding region. Alongside them, workshops and shops were built. Of these buildings, the main one that remains is the former cooperative store building, established in 1953 (today a bakery).

Across from the site where the “Our Home” club and the Department for Youth Advancement now stand, there was a generator that supplied electricity to Yeruham in its early years, after leaving the transit camp and before being connected to the national power grid. West of the generator stood the salt factory. To its north, in 1962, a building was erected that served as a restaurant and hotel. Later, it housed the first public library, then a kindergarten. Finally, until it was demolished in 1988, it served as storage for the local council.

On the site where the municipal market operated on Tuesdays during the 1980s, there once stood a diamond-polishing plant, which later became the original location of the “Lon” factory (later “Agis”), and afterward served as the “Gil” banquet hall.
