A Sacred and Significant Landmark
| | Mill River Green Way Trail | |
As of 2020, and for nearly a century prior, the steeple of the St. Agnes Cathedral has dominated the skyline as the tallest building in the Village of Rockville Centre and on the entire south shore of Nassau County. The current cathedral building was completed in 1935 and replaced a marble church built in 1905. Prior to that, the parish was served by a converted public school building on this site.
The cathedral's exterior underwent a major renovation that was completed in 1982, and a year-long interior restoration was completed in 2015.
