1. 1935 Labor Day Hurricane Marker

Inscription. The Category 5, 1935 Labor Day Hurricane devastated Islamorada and the Upper Keys. The storm brought sustained winds above 180 mph, gusts over 200 mph, and 18 feet of tidal surge. Barometric readings reached a record-breaking low of 26.35 inches. It is considered the most powerful storm to strike North America.
