Exploring Fort Smith
There are several areas to explore at the historic site. Sidewalks offer access to a variety of natural and historic features. Highlights include the gallows, commissary, and visitor center (former barracks, courthouse, and jail).

Stroll along the river Trail beside the Arkansas and Poteau Rivers and listen to the sounds of water flowing and birds chirping. Stop at the Trail of Tears Overlook and contemplate the injustice of Indian Removal. Discover the oldest part of the park at the foundation of the first
