1868
The first Mitchell County Courthouse was constructed on this site.

1947
The first Mitchell County Public Library was located in the room over the coal shed.

1956
A brick jail was built attached to the 1907 courthouse.

This park is dedicated to the memory of the eight men who died in the tragic fire of 3 May 2002
