1. Senator Charles J. Colgan Marker
Inscription. In his early years, Senator Colgan joined the U.S. Army Air Corps as an Aviation Cadet and served his country with honors in WWII. He founded two successful airlines based out of the Manassas Regional Airport, was inducted into the Virginia Aviation Hall of Fame in 1980, and served on the Board of County Supervisors from 1972-1976 where he was instrumental in bringing George Mason University to Prince William County. He served in the Virginia State Senate from 1976 until 2016 as a champion of education, transportation, and veterans issues. He was the only Senator from PWC to serve as Chairman of the Senate Finance Committee, and with 40 years of service he became the longest serving State Senator in the history of Virginia.
