On this site in 1993, Jim Hambrick opened the Super Museum, home to one of the world's largest and most comprehensive collections of Superman memorabilia. His passion for the Man of Steel transformed Metropolis, Illinois, into a global destination for Superman fans, strengthening its identity as the official "Home of Superman."

A dedicated historian and collector, Hambrick spent decades preserving and sharing the legacy of Superman. His expertise and vast collection made the museum a must-visit attraction, drawing visitors from around the world. He also played a key role in expanding the Superman Celebration, helping it grow into the major annual event it is today.

In recognition of his contributions, Hambrick received numerous local honors for his work in promoting Superman's legacy and Metropolis itself. Through his lifelong dedication, he ensured that Superman's story - and the values of Truth, Justice, and the American way -would continue to inspire generations.
