…the Gestapo investigated the dissident diplomat. In February 1935, he was arrested for alleged offenses under Section 175 of the German Criminal Code, along with other undesirable officials at the time…. However, he initially managed to escape the clutches of the Nazi regime. Through his former superior, Wilhelm Solf, and his wife, Hanna Solf, Mumm von Schwarzenstein entered the circles of the resistance. He soon became part of the inner circle of the Solf Circle, which primarily included diplomats critical of the regime. During this time, Herbert Mumm von Schwarzenstein worked as a historical consultant to film companies. He was(Submitted on October 5, 2025.)arrested on February 23, 1942…. However, the People's Court did not issue its verdict until two years later. The prisoner was sentenced to death and executed by firing squad on April 20, 1945, in the Brandenburg-Görden penitentiary.Photographed by Andrew Ruppenstein, September 3, 20252.
