1. Hart Hall Marker
Inscription. Hart Hall was erected on the site of the old Assembly Hall razed in 1929. Named for Laurence J. Hart, a member of the Board of Directors (1909 - 1924). Designed as an experiment in student living known as the "ramp system" where rooms are accessed from the outside by a series of stairwells, instead of internal hallways. The ramps separate two pairs of rooms connected by showers and toilet facilities. The four story building has ten ramps (A through J) and 138 rooms. The corners of the "U" plan are cut at a forty-five degree angle. The exterior is very simple, with ornamentation limited to the ramp entrances.

Erected by Texas A&M University.
