Regarding Gardner Field. Gardner Army Airfield is a former U.S. Army Air Force World War II field. It was named for Major John H. Gardner, a World War I aviator hero.

Gardner AAF is historically significant as Major General Charles "Chuck" Yeager first learned how to fly an airplane here.

Today, only the remnants of the parking apron remain.
There is a plaque located at the site of the base's former entrance, at the intersection of Gardner Field Road and Basic School Road.
