The Greek Revival Architecture and its association with the founding of Anoka combine to make this property historically significant. The original east section of the house was built for Neil Shaw and his family, who were prominent land developers in the community. Other residents included Weston Hammons, the Anoka County Attorney; local businessman, Justice W. DeGraff, an engineer; and his daughter Marie Follrath, who owned the house until 1965.
