Avera-Weirig House
The Avera-Weirig House, circa 1858, is a vernacular Greek Revival Cottage, with a classical pediment, dentiled cornice, pilasters, and two front doors. It was built by Randolph Avera on what was then the edge of Thomasville. Thomasville resident and carpenter J.A. Weirig purchased the home in 1895. His daughter, Miss Bessie Weirig, lived there for 75 years. Thomasville Landmarks acquired it in 1971 and protected it in perpetuity.
