1. Anderson House Marker
Inscription. Thought to have been built in 1804 by militia sergeant James Anderson, this is believed to be the oldest surviving house in St. John's. Its hipped-roof form was common during the 18th and early 19th centuries. Conveniently located between Fort William and fortifications on Signal Hill, it is believed to have originally served as a military billet and stable.
