Regarding Vedanta Square. Vedanta is a philosophy taught by the Vedas, the most ancient scriptures of India. Its basic teaching is that our real nature is divine.
Swami Vivekananda was the most prominent of Ramakrishna's disciples. He came to the U.S. as the representative of Hinduism at the World Parliament of Religions held in Chicago in 1893. His overwhelming success resulted in the founding of a number of centers throughout America, and many believe, the emergence of Eastern philosophy in the West.
