1. Historic Oregon City Marker
Inscription.
Oregon City Mills, looking across the river to the newly built Willamette Falls Locks, 1874. Visible are the Imperial Flour Mills, built in 1863-1864, and to its right the Oregon Manufacturing Company (Oregon Woolen Mills) which was established in 1864. Below Imperial Mills is the McLoughlin House of 1846 at its original site, here being used as the Phoenix Hotel (with an addition on the back).

Oregon City Shore, looking South, circa 1884. Willamette Falls can be seen in the background. At this time the waterfront was a combination of mills, shipping companies and residences. There were few buildings on the other side of the river.
