Sacred Heart Church
On August 16, 1885 the Most Reverend Louis M. Fink, O.S.B. issued a decree for the establishment of Sacred Heart Parish and appointed the Rev. Thomas J. Downey as pastor. The parish extends from south of Spruce Street to the north line of Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
This present church was dedicated on November 24, 1927. It represents many years of faith, hope and charity carried in the hearts of all pastors and parishioners past and present. June 30 1985 celebrated its 100 years of existence.
