Regarding Woolworth's Five-&-Ten Cent Store. Woolworth's closing in 1972 was an early sign of a downturn for businesses in downtown Glen Ellyn, which were negatively impacted by the opening of massive shopping malls nearby, most notably Oak Brook in 1962 and Yorktown Center in 1968.
