On Nov. 11 at 11:00 AM the sun will spotlight the plaque commemorating the date and time of the signing of the Armistice ending WW1.

The citizens of Lucedale wish to thank all of our veterans for their service and sacrifice.

2. Veteran's Memorial (southeast side)
The marker is mounted at eye-level on the tallest [south] column of the memorial.
The armistice initially expired after a period of 36 days and had to be extended several times. A formal peace agreement was reached only when the Treaty of Versailles was signed the following year.

At 11:00am on November 11th, the sun is positioned so that direct sunlight passes through the holes at the top of all 5 columns to illuminate the commemorative plaque on the ground in front of the shortest [north] column.
