More about this marker. The first settlements in this area were known as Stacy's Corner and Newton Station until 1851, when it was renamed Danby, after the postmaster's hometown in Vermont. In the 1870s it was renamed Prospect Park, and then in 1891 it became Glen Ellyn, honoring the nearby lake and the area's glens.
