More about this marker. Most of the names listed here are depicted in the painting as plaques at the top of an archway, beneath which George Washington and Joseph Naper, Naperville's namesake and founding settler, are standing.
The bottom right corner shows a cornerstone, with a 1916 date and the name Ralph H. Wheeler, who was a grand master.
Also see . . . Euclid Lodge history. The Euclid Lodge No. 65 is the oldest Masonic lodge in DuPage County. Still active in Naperville, it is named in the painting, beneath the archway.
Excerpt: "On September 28, 1848, Euclid Lodge No. 65, by dispensation from the Most Worshipful Grand Master William Lavely of the Most Honorable Society of Free and Accepted Masons of Illinois, the lodge officers were elected and with the acceptance of a Charter, Euclid Lodge was duly constituted on October 2, 1849. When the Lodge received its Charter, Euclid Lodge first met in a room on the upper floor of the DuPage Cash Store where the first candidate of Masonry in Naperville, Eli Rich, received his degrees for membership."(Submitted on October 16, 2025, by Sean P.
