1. Old Nazareth Church Marker
Inscription. Furnace Town Village was served by the Salem Church which stood along Millville Road across from the present Visitors Center. Known as "The Shingled Meetinghouse" from its shingled siding, the church was part of the Snow Hill Methodist Circuit. The deteriorated building was demolished about 1929. This church, known as the Nazareth Church, was also a Methodist Church and stood along Old Furnace Road at Pusey Branch, four miles northwest of Furnace Town. It was built in 1874 and donated to Furnace Town in 1980 by the heirs of the original trustees. This church building, with its wood stove and oil lights, represents the typical rural church architecture found throughout Worcester County.
