Mansion House
Only the foundation and the basement area remain of the house built by Thomas Spence for his new wife Elenora Norris Ellicott Spence. With broad verandahs and a portico supported by columns, the front door faced away from the furnace. Inside were finely furnished large parlors, lofty ceilings and many rooms for guests and entertainment. The north and south end walls were of brick, with fireplaces on all floors. There was a full basement sometimes used as a kitchen in the winter. there was a summer kitchen separate from and to the rear of the house (where the pile of brick is now). The house faced the main road to Salisbury.
