Regarding Spirit of the American Doughboy. The third version of the American Doughboy was copyrighted by sculptor E. M. Viquesney of Spencer, IN in 1934. This statue in Verona, PA was the last Viquesney Doughboy delivered and erected. A down payment on the statue was made in February, 1942, but not delivered until the completion of payment in June, 1943. It was housed in the local VFW until land could be acquired and finally erected in
