1. Chapins Horse & Mule Co. Marker
Inscription. Originally, H.L. Chapin opened Chapin's Horse & Mule Co. at this location in 1906. In 1940, Chapin expanded the building dividing it into three sections. One section served as a bowling alley during WWII, an A & P food store in the late 40's until around 1960, and a general store called the "Trading Post" in 1953 to 1998 operated by the Harry Levy family who later acquired the building around 1960. In 1965, Winn Brother's Furniture relocated to this location after a fire destroyed their Main and Broad business. A. David Carwile bought Winn Brother's Furniture in 1974 changing the name to Winn Furniture Inc. in 1998, Joe Levy sold the building to the Carwiles.
