Inscription.
The railroad placed mileposts each mile along the right-of-way from its beginning in Mobile, Alabama to the end of the line in East St. Louis, IL As you look at this sign, you are 630 miles north of Mobile. There are four mileposts within the city owned trail. MP 631 is north of Rueck Rd., MP 632 just south of Ghent Rd. and MP 633, just short of the intersection with the current Union Pacific tracks under I-255. The last milepost in East St. Louis was MP 645.
