1. Daniel James (Dan'l) Moody Marker

Inscription. Born in Kentucky and raised in Missouri, Daniel J. Moody came to Texas in the 1870s to work as a claim agent for the International Great Northern Railroad. He settled in Taylorsville (later Taylor) in 1876 and served as mayor from 1882-1887, 1889-1890 and 1894- 1900. He was also chairman of the school board, justice of the peace and was involved in establishing Taylor's masonic lodge. Daniel married Nancy (Nannie) Elizabeth Robertson (1856-1924) in 1890, and they lived in a house on 9th street for the rest of their lives. The couple had two children; their son, Dan Moody, became governor of Texas. Daniel and Nannie are buried in Austin's Oakwood Cemetery.
