Shubuta United Methodist Church
The Shubuta Methodist Episcopal Church, South, was established circa 1843 by Rev. Samuel Jones and Rev. Elijah Gilmore. The first sanctuary built in 1860 was replaced by this Carpenter Gothic-style structure built in 1890, one of two such styled buildings in Clarke County. Featuring three steeples, stained glass windows imported from Belgium and a large bronze bell, the Shubuta United Methodist Church was listed in the National Register of Historic Places in June 1994.
