General Marquez was born in 1932, in Peralta, N.M., and graduated from Belen (N.M.) High School in 1949. He received a bachelor of science degree in zoology from New Mexico State University, Las Cruces, in 1954, and a master of science degree in business administration from The George Washington University, Washington, D.C., in 1967. The general completed Air Command and Staff College, Maxwell Air Force Base, Ala., in 1967 and attended the advanced management program for executives, Carnegie-Mellon University, Pittsburgh, in 1976.
