1. Rephbaum Hardware Marker
Inscription. Alfred Rehbaum, Sr. arrived in Mount Dora in 1915 from Ancona, Florida. He managed the Mount Dora Hardware store, which later became known as Rehbaum Hardware, in the north half of the building, and the M.O. Williams drugstore and pharmacy occupied the south half. Mr. Rehbaum operated a funeral business in the back portion of this building in 1918. Alfred Rehbaum, Sr. was very involved in the community. He was one of eight founders of the Mount Dora Development Company, a school trustee, a councilman, and he was president of the Kiwanis Club, the Forest Cemetery Association, and the Chamber of Commerce. Three generations of Rehbaum men operated the hardware store through the 1980s.
