Inscription. James Simpson built the Mount Dora Bank building in 1926 and was its first president. In 1927, the bank converted to a national bank and became known as the First National Bank of Mount Dora. The interior of the Georgian-style bank building featured a 22-foot-high ceiling with marble wainscoting and floors, and teller cages were bronze with brass grilles. The building's front doors originally faced Donnelly Street. The bank served the community in this location for 39 years until 1965.
