Inscription.
The Lake County Courthouse, affectionately known as "The Grand Old Lady," is in the design tradition of Romanesque and Georgian styles. The original structure was built in 1878.
There were two additions to the original building: two-and-a-half story wings completed in 1908, and one-and-a-half story additions completed in 1928. This is the building gracing the center of The Square. The courthouse was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1973.
The building and land are maintained by the Old Lake Court House Foundation, a private non-profit organization that has been protecting this landmark since 1975.

Erected 2023 by City of Crown Point and the Crown Point Community Library.
