1. Crown Theatre Marker
Inscription.
The Crown Theatre at 19 N. Court St. started as an independent movie house known as The Palace Theater in 1926. The theater was later renamed to Crown Theatre. The Crown Theatre closed in 2012. Prior to its movie house days, the building was a livery and then a doctor's office.
The Renaissance Revival style building was constructed in 1900, with its most recent renovation being completed in 2020. The brick exterior has unique features using terracotta ornamentation instead of limestone, as seen on many buildings in Crown Point. While no longer a theater, it remains one of the most distinctive and treasured buildings on The Square.
