This amazing building has seen a diverse number of businesses since 1905. The first occupants were Clarence McLaurin and W H Needham who opened the first electrical supply company in the city. Their partnership also owned the Gem Theatre at 904 Delta Ave.

Mr. John Wahowiak opened a shoe repair shop in 1910, one of two shoe shops in the city at that time. After 10 years he moved the shop to 902 Minnesota Ave and renamed it "The Electric Shoe Hospital." His son Raymond joined him in the business in 1947.

The American Express Office was located here under the leadership of Eugene Dayton. Mr. Dayton served in WWI and was very active in the American Legion serving as Commander for a few years.

The Thompson Baking Company of Escanaba opened a branch at this location with Richard Heric as manager. Richard was formerly employed by Henry Rosenblum as his Advertising Director.

In 1936 the Gladstone branch of the Escanaba Steam Laundry occupied this location, along with Peterson's Flower Shoppe.

Grier Ivory purchased the building in 1940 and opened Ivory Drugs under the Walgreen franchise. Mr. Ivory entered WWII but chose not to close the store. He hired Dudley Ensign of Crystal Falls to fill prescriptions and manage the business. The store was very popular complete with music and a soda
