McCann Block Building
108 South Euclid Avenue
| | 1917 | |
In 1917, Lewis E. McCann hired Campbell Construction Company to construct this classic Commercial style building which housed his hardware store. It was built with reinforced concrete for $20,000 and sold for $30,000 in 1923. This early 20th Century building embodies character-defining features such as a recessed, double-door entrance, a brick veneer bulkhead, large plate glass windows to showcase store merchandise, and a banding of transom windows allowing natural light to enter the store. The McCann Block Building is one of the finest of its kind in downtown Ontario.
