Inscription. The Charlemagne Apartments, which occupy the second and third stories, are part of the original design and construction of the Frankish Building. These two to four room apartments were considered to be “high class and modern living” at the time of construction. Priced from $12.50 to $30 per month, all units were equipped with “disappearing” Murphy beds, gas ranges, heaters, private bathrooms with modern fixtures, telephone, electricity, and hardwood floors throughout. All floors were serviced by a modern elevator. The Frankish Building stands as a testament of sustainable materials and quality construction.
