Inscription.
Construction of the First United Methodist Church of Bishop was completed in August of 1908. It is the oldest church still in use in Bishop. The building was designed by Minnie M. Jackson, of Berkeley, who was only 24 years old.

Charles P. Davis and Hugh Tremble, Bishop contractors, built the church at a cost of $8,500.00. The dedication service was held on August 16, 1908 and presided over by former minister, rev. W.P. Rankin.

Over the years, few changes have been made inside and out, thus preserving its original Colonial Revival design. The 19 original stained windows remain, although they were restored with a protective covering in 1977.
