1. 1114 Washington Avenue Marker

Inscription.
1114 Washington Avenue
G.W. Dollison and John Nicholls constructed this building during the early 1880’s. It served as a dry goods store, with the third floor added shortly after it was built for a lodge hall. His son, George E. Dollison, due to wind damage, removed the third floor during the early 1920’s. In 1923 C.C. Fetterman purchased the Brown Dry Goods store and converted it to the Fair Dime store. This was later purchased by Ralph W. Middlemiss and expanded to the south. One of downtown’s most ornate buildings still has its original second floor arched double hung windows with pressed metal hoods and cornice.
