When Adolph Coors began brewing beer in Golden, he opened a beer garden on the grounds of his brewery. People flocked from miles around to enjoy both his product and atmosphere of Golden. Carrying the idea a step further, Coors got into the saloon business. This building, constructed in 1906, is an example of many saloons built by Coors throughout the west. The basement was used to bottle beer, while the upstairs was used as apartments. Eventually the building was converted to a grocery. The faηade remains much the same as the day the Coors saloon opened.
