1. Repair Shop Marker
Inscription.

The plan view below shows two rooms in this building. The room on your right has a dirt floor. This was likely a blacksmith shop. If you look closely, you can steel see fragments of coal on the floor. The room on the left housed a machine shop. A 1938 equipment liquidation inventory listed a drill press, a power hacksaw, and power grinders, which would have been mounted in the machine shop portion of the building. The inventory also listed blacksmith vises, which would have been in the room on your right.

The map above is oriented with north at the top. You are facing south.

This concrete foundation is what remains of a building that likely housed a machine shop and a blacksmith shop. A 1925 map of Milford Mine does not show a structure here. The map shows a building northwest of here, near the present shoreline, labeled Shop. The building that was located here can be seen on a 1929 map, labeled Repair Shop. The structure that was located here probably replaced the earlier shop building sometime between 1925 and 1929.
