1. Krijtmolen d’Admiraal / Chalkmill d’Admiraal Marker
In 1792 gebouwde achtkante bovenkruier met stelling. Het maalwerk van deze industriemolen is een kollergang, waarmee krijt en tras werden vermalen tot metselprodukten.
In de vijftigerjaren raakte de molen in verval. De in 1964 opgerichte Stichting Krijtmolen d'Admiraal ijverde met succes voor herstel.
4 november 1967 werd de geheel bedrijfsvaardige molen weer in werking gesteld.
De enige windtrasmolen in Nederland.
Chalkmill d’Admiraal
Built in 1792, this octagonal smock mill with a platform is a milling machine. The grinding mechanism of this industrial mill is a scour mill, used to grind chalk and trass into masonry products.
In the 1950s, the mill fell into disrepair. The Chalk Mill d'Admiraal Foundation, established in 1964, successfully campaigned for its restoration.
On November 4, 1967, the fully operational mill was put back into operation.
The only wind-powered chalkmill in the Netherlands.

In the town district “Amsterdam North-Buiksloot” along the “Noord Hollands Kanaal”, there is a unique national monument : the last remaining wind powered trass- and chalkmill in the world.(Submitted on November 14, 2025.)
The official name of this stagemill is “d’Admiraal” , unofficially the mill is known as the “chalkmill” or the “chalkmill d’Admiraal”, referring to the major product the mill produced. This mill was especially built for grinding stone of various kinds such as chalk and also trass, a vulcanic stone that was delved in the “Eiffel”. Trass being an important bricklaying product.
Come and get acquainted with this superb example of the Dutch industrial heritage. Since 1792 this mill has been very important in the history of Amsterdam-North across the harbour “ het IJ”.
The present miller and the board of the non-profit foundation do everything in their power to promote this working monument.…
