4. Harold Ahlborg (1899-1918)
Harold G. Ahlborg (some files say his full given name was Gustav Harald Ahlborg) was born in Oslo in 1899 and emigrated from Norway to Chicago with his family in 1902. A private in the 131st Infantry, Ahlborg deployed to France for World War I in May 1918. Ahlborg was killed on July 21, 1918, in Pierregot, France, when a revolver that one of his fellow squad members was cleaning accidentally discharged. Ahlborg is buried in Arlington Cemetery in Elmhurst, Illinois, but any other link to DuPage County beyond that burial could not be determined. His military files list his home address as 1410 N. Kolin Ave., in Chicago's Humboldt Park neighborhood, an area that at that time had a large Norwegian-American population. This photograph is preserved by the Chicago History Museum in an archive related to Chicago-area servicemembers who died in World War I.

5. Stuart Robinson Murray (1895-1918)
According to his gravestone inscription at Wheaton Cemetery, Murray enlisted at Fort Sheridan in 1917 and was a member of the 149th Field Artillery. Murray saw action in France and died at Bulson, Sedan, France, on the morning of November 11, 1918, just hours before the armistice ended the war. Originally buried in France, his remains were returned to his hometown in 1922. His photo is preserved in the Chicago History Museum's file of photographs of Chicago-area men who died in World War I.
