More about this memorial. A nearby Civil War memorial stone was erected at this park in 1934. According to news reports, an anonymous donor funded a rehab of the park in 2014, when the Civil War memorial was made the center of a larger veterans memorial. This newer marker honors the new memorial, titled Heroes of Freedom. A blue memorial, titled Spalding's Point, shares the history of this small park across the street from Glenbard West High School.
