The church has served this community continuously since its founding. The first and present parsonage was built in 1948.

The adjoining “Second Mount Pleasant Cemetery” was established in 1839 after the church was organized.

One half mile west of the church on Sugar Creek is the site of a grist and flour mill. Erection began about 1832. The builders were Beard and McDermed. This mill later known as Clark Mill. This mill operated by two horizontal water wheels was in operation until 1897.
